Recently, the workshop on Professional Master Degree in Quantitative Finance was held by the Mathematic Department.

“ Our department attaches great importance to the finance mathematics specialist traning,” said Prof. Xia Zhihong, the Chair of the Mathematic Department. He also introuduced the development plan of the university and the department at the openning ceremony.

"The Department of Mathematics should train qualified people to meet the needs of the country, " said Prof. Jiang Boju, the first dean of mathmatical sciences school of Peking University, who has built  the displine of financial mathematics in China, illustrated the idea of building the first department of financial mathematics.

Representatives  introduced the experiences of the curriculum design,teaching materials selection, Internship Programs and teaching staff and educational facilities. The representatives came from the universities which have offered the professional master degree in Quantitative Finance, inculding University of Technology Sydney, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Peking University, Shandong University, Fudan University, Tongji University, Shanghai Normal University, Shuzhou University and South China Normal University. Industry representatives from sectors of banking, securities, insurance and fund provided suggestions to the department's development.

With the rapid development in finance industry, the requirement for the specialists in Quantitative Finance is more urgent.  In recent years, many domestic universities offered the Professional Master Degree in Finance with major direction in Quantitative Finance.
